Desktops just like laptops are getting more advance but in different ways, laptops are growing more in speed then in size while desktops are the opposite it is growing more in size then in speed. There are desktops the sizes of books, while still having the same speed as a desktop 3 times the size 6 years ago. Desktops and laptop now are on par and there are pro and cons on both of them. Some of the pros of using a desktop is that it is faster then laptops, much easier to upgrade, easy to replace, etc. While some of the cons are, many wires, not portable, need a power supply, etc. Companies are still producing desktops but they do not produce new desktop as fast as laptops.

Asus desktop is quite different you only buy the case and the motherboard

Operating System: Window Vista/XP/2000

Processor: Intel CPU up to 3.8 GHz

Ram: 4GB DDR2 Max

Hard Disk: (Does not come with the desktop)

Graphics Card: Integrated Intel GMA 950

Display: N/A

CD/DVD Drive: N/A

Memory card: 6-in-1 Card Reader

Network Card: (Did not specify)

Dimensions: 95mm by 357mm by 398mm

Audio: Azalia Realtek ALC883

Webcam: N/A

Fingerprint Reader: N/A

Wireless: None

Battery: Runs on 275 W

Asus mother board is quite good, it can hold 4GB of ram and I do suggest that you only install 32bit Vista and not 64bit since it would be a complete waste of money. It would cost you extra and you get nothing extra. The processor runs at up to 3.8 GHz that it quite an impressive number on such a small desktop. The graphic card Intel GMA 950 has come up quite often in the computers I have chosen to review, which most probably means that Intel GMA 950 is quite commonly used on small computers. There are two expansion bays that if I am not mistaken to put your hard disk in, but I am not sure, since I have never seen desktops made by Asus.

This desktop is perfect for those who do not have enough room on their table. I am sure of two things right now, one is that I will never review Asus again and I am sure that the review I just did was a terrible one, the other things is that desktops will surely by made even smaller. It cost about $500.

Performance: N/A I cannot rate this desktop since there is so much that can be changed.

Cost: 3/10 This desktop is quite expensive but it is mostly because of its size

Appearance: 5/10 This desktop is just black with silver lines going down its middle and side front.

Acer Aspire 893

Acer is the 3rd biggest brand in the world right after Dell and HP. Acer is from Taiwan, before it started to make computers it just sold computer parts and was a technical consultant. The name Acer was adopted in 1987 and before that it was called Multitech. Acer was found by Stan Shih, his wife Carolyn Yeh, and five others in 1976, since that time it has grown to be one of the most well known computer companies in the world.

The computer Aspire 8930 cannot be customise unlike HP and Dell but it has different series which has different specifications so like always I shall stick to the basic one.

Operating System: Window Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 (32 bits)

Processor: Intel Core2 Quad Processor Q9000 (2.0GHz)

Ram: 4GB DDR2

Hard Disk: 500GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GT 512MB

Display: Acer Cine Crystal 18.4” LCD Display

CD/DVD Drive: DVD Drive Read Write DVD-R/+R/Ram.

Memory card: Reader: 6-in-1 integrated Multi Media Reader

Network Card: Gigabit Lan

Dimensions: 17.4″ by 11.8″ by 1.6″

Audio: Audio Cine Surround with five integrated stereo speakers and one Acer Tuba CineBass booster.

Webcam: Yes

Fingerprint Reader: Yes

Wireless Intel Wireless WiFi Link

Battery: 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

This laptop is quite well rounded; the processor is enough for games to run well depending on the specification. If running Empire Earth III then it would be enough for running on low detail but not on high but running Age of Empire III since the specification needed lower, it should not be a problem to run on high detail. Also the ram and graphic card must also be put into consideration. The ram is 4GB the highest amount Window Vista 32bit can hold anymore and it will just be a waste of money unless the computer is running 64bit. The hard disk is quite a big size but the speed is quite slow for that hard disk size. So a suggestion is to either get the hard disk upgraded to a higher read write speed or just do not move huge files around. The graphic card is right now most commonly use with the 512MB and it is perfectly fine since most games specification need about that size or less. The computer also has a webcam and fingerprint reader but I will not go into any detail about those since I have said things about them in my previous posts. This computer is like I said before a well rounded computer it shows good ram and also average processor speed. The size of the laptop means that putting it in a normal bag might be too big to fit in or just barley fit in, so I would suggest that buying a bag specifically made for the laptop would be a good idea. It costs about $1600.

Performance: 10/10 It can run many application at once and can play almost any game.

Cost: 10/10 The laptop is not expensive it is about average for a laptop.

Appearance: 10/10 It has a glossy look on the outside and also a touch sensitive to control the volume and everything which really just stands out from most laptops.

Latitude XT Tablet PC

Technology is advancing rapidly, it is becoming smaller, lighter and faster. The first computer that came out was in 1946 by John W. Mauchly and John P. Eckert, the computer. That was only 63 years ago and now we have computer the size of A4 paper and still runs faster then the one created by John W. Mauchly and John P. Eckert. Now days touch screen has become common, people have it on their phones, iPods, laptops, Nintendo DS, arcade games and even electronic photo frames have touch screen.

Just like HP, Dell lets people customize their laptop. So I shall stick to the basic specification.

Operating System: Window Vista Business Service Pack 1 (32 bits)

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo (1.2GHz)

Ram: 1GB DDR3

Hard Disk: 80GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive

Graphics Card: Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MAH

Display: 12.1″ Premium WXGA (1280×800) LED Display Touch screen

CD/DVD Drive: E-Module w/ 24X CD-RW/DVD

Network Card: Integrated 10/100/1000 Gig Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector)

Dimensions: 11.7″ by 8.7″ by 1.1″

Audio: High Definition Audio 2.0

Webcam: No

Fingerprint Reader: No

Wireless Internet: Dell Wireless 1397 802.11g Mini-Card

Battery: 4 Cell Battery

Dell kept this computer simply nothing too fancy. Dell made the Latitude XT for business, and only work can be done on this computer. There is no webcam meaning no online messaging. The display of 12.1” is big and good for reading paperwork and since it is a touch screen and can be twisted it saves space to use, although you will need two hands to hold it since it is big and so the weight will strain the wrist of the hand. The processor is good enough to run office files and Window Vista itself. The ram should be at minimal of 2GB which is what I think is the best for Window Vista business because of Window Aero, but it is only 1GB and that meaning opening up multiply programs or programs that need huge amount of ram and processor will be a problem for example my dad uses 3D rendering software sometimes for, would dislike this computer since it could jam, lag or crash the program.

Dell has made this laptop for business and solely on business no gaming can be done on it since it will lag and will not run smoothly but it is a good choice if you are getting it for your company. The starting price is $1742 which I find a bit expensive for such a laptop, I would say though that it would be a lot cheaper if there was no touch screen.

Performance: 5/10 You cannot play games on this.

Cost: 9/10 The laptop is a bit too expensive but since it has a touch screen and it is still not common so I will give it a 9 for now.

Appearance: 4/10 The computer is just plain black there are no fancy things on it.

Here is a video on  Latitude XT Table PC touch screen fetures, one of the feture is to turn the screen off. Bosses Watch Out!!!

HP HDX 18t Premium series

Desktops is now slowly being replaced by laptops since they do not have any wires coming out of the back and so the work place is kept quite neat. HP has made computers that replaces desktop with their lightning processing speed and heavy duty built, and I will be reviewing the best of the best heavy duty laptop that HP has yet to have made.

First off I will give the specification of the HDX 18t Premium series but since HP allows people to customize their laptop I will stick with the most basic set that can be bought.

Operating System: Window Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 (32 bits)

Processor: Intel Core2 Duo Processor P8700 (2.53GHz)

Ram: 3GB DDR2

Hard Disk: 320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512MB

Display: 18.4″ diagonal High Definition HP Ultra BrightView Infinity Display

CD/DVD Drive: Blu-Ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW Double Layer

Memory card: Reader: 5-in-1 integrated Digital Media Reader

Network Card: Integrated 10/100/1000 Gig Ethernet LAN(RJ-45 connector)

Dimensions:17.17 by 11.26 by 1.33

Audio: Altec Lansing stereo speakers

Webcam: Yes

Fingerprint Reader: Yes

Wireless Internet: Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card

Battery: 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

Information from Hp Website

This computer is a heavy-duty computer, the built in keyboard is a full size keyboard including a number pad next to it. The processing speed is fast but not the fastest right now; if I am not mistaken the fastest processor is 4.7GHz. It is far off, but what is the point for having such a fast processing speed for? The 2.53GHz processing speed is high enough to run any game for Windows. The ram is an excellent amount, just right for Window Vista even though Window Vista 32bits can hold up to 4GB, 3GB is enough to run loads of applications at once and if you do run quite a few number of applications at once try considering a Mac although it takes a while to get use to it is much better for multi taskers. The Hard Disk is not very big for home usage especially for hard-core gamers so consider buying an external hard drive or upgrade your hard disk. The graphic card thou is another terrible thing for a hard core gamer, simple games like Battle front II or Star Wars Jedi Outcast would work sensationally well but for games that is built for Vista, the game would run fine on low detail but on high detail it might lag. There are also the useless stuff like the fingerprint reader, it may look cool on the laptop but it would a hassle to use it.

So if you are planning to throw away your desktop, think about getting a high performance laptop since it saves both space and cost. This once right here would be about $1299.99.

Performance: 9/10 I would give it 10 out of 10 if the graphic card were of higher quality.

Cost: 10/10 The laptop is not expensive and is comparable to other laptops its specification might be higher but it would be a hassle to move it around.

Appearance: 10/10 It has a glossy touch to its side and an artistic drawing on the back of the screen.

Kojinsha SR

Now days laptops are getting smaller and smaller I am now using a laptop that is smaller than an A4 size piece of paper but it is still quite thick about 1 inch thick. This is my first blog and so my first review would be about Kohjinsha UMPC (Ultra-portable personal computer) SR model.

Here are the specs:

Operating System: Window Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 (32 bits)

Processor: Intel Atom Processor A110(800MHz)

Ram: 1GB DDR2

Hard Disk: 60GB

Graphics Card: N/A Share With Ram

Display: 7” Wide TFT LCD

CD/DVD Drive: DVD-R/+R Double Layer Support

Memory card: Reader: 3 in 1 Media Card Slot

Network Card: 100 BASE-TX /10BASE –T

Dimensions: 233mm by 177mm by 33mm

Audio: Realtek High Definition Audio

Webcam: Yes

Fingerprint Reader: No

Touch Screen: Yes

Wireless Internet: Wireless Lan IEEE802.11b/

Battery: Lithium Ion Battery

Information from Kojinsha’s Singapore website.

First of all if you are interested in this computer then you have to go all the way to Singapore to get one. But Kojinsha has sure got the best UMPC around why? Well because of its internal DVD player. Although the DVD player made it a slightly thicker and heavier but it still worth the weight. There are not many UMPC that have an internal DVD drive. Most of them you need to get one external one by yourself and that would cost quite a bit.

This UMPC comes with a touch screen, now I know you are all going wow a touch screen that is so awesome I want to get one. Well I had my experience with touch screen and to put it bluntly it sucks. First of all the touch screen is something you need to get use to, there is also the ability to write on the screen but it takes more time then type why? Well because the handwriting system is terrible they would make errors like when writing an “a” on the screen the computer would read it as an “o”. Well and also the erasing part is also no beauty if you scratch it out wrong it would read it as a word. The battery is also something that is a problem; now on the spec list it shows that the battery life is 3.6 hrs long. I have one and it tells me on balanced it would only last 1.5 hrs long. That is half of what the spec says. The ram that it has is not too bad since it is such a small pc it can run quite a few programs at once. The processor speed is 800 not to bad and so opening up firefox takes about 5 seconds to start up although now they made a new one, which has the processor speed of 1330.

The graphic card is not built for games so if you are planning to play games on this then just forget it. This is more for work or quick usage on holiday or a road trip. The hard disk has a good size to it, 60GB might not sound like much but if it is only work and no games it is a huge amount. The keyboard is a bit small but after a while your hands would get use to it and you can type as fast as a full size keyboard. The speakers are not top notch but it would be what you get from your iPod headphones. The screen is only 9 inch and that is a bit small but it is because of the buttons at both sides of the screen. Those buttons really come in handy especially if you are in a rush.

This computer is the perfect gift for a person who needs a small computer but also wants it for videos. The price range is about 1400 Singapore dollars, which is about 940 U.S. dollars.

Performance 5/10 It is not built for gaming and also it can only take light applications.

Cost 8/10 it is slightly expensive but the features are quite good

Appearance 8/10 The appearance is quite sleek and smooth and the inside is quite well done too.
